Municipal action plans for prevention of extremism

With effect from 1 April 2024 all Danish municipalities must have a plan of action to prevent, detect and handle extremism amongst children, youngsters and their families.

A great number of municipalities already have action plans, in most cases developed with the support of the Centre for Documentation and Counter Extremism.

The centre bases its advice and support to the municipalities on a comprehensive concept, providing for a cross-sectoral organization and a set of well-qualified and long term prevention efforts, including the broad, general prevention in schools and residential areas, the handling of concrete concerns through the info-houses and contingency plans for acute situations.
